ICT Service Center helps you fix, upgrade and understand your laptop or desktop computer, in plain steps that start with the safest, free check and only then move to parts or a repair shop.
Who is behind the site
ICT Service Center was started by KAI, who comes from a computer engineering background and has spent years working with laptops, desktops, internal components and upgrades, and with the everyday problems people bring to a repair desk. The site exists because most tech advice either drowns you in jargon or jumps straight to “buy a new one”.
Meet the editor: Owen Hale
Our guides are written and edited under the name Owen Hale. Owen Hale is a pen name for the site’s editorial voice, not a separate real person, and the portrait you see next to the byline is an illustration, not a photograph. We use one consistent name so that every guide follows the same standards and reads the same way.
How we write a fix
- Safest step first. Two-minute checks, then settings and drivers, then hardware, then a part or a repair. Each guide tells you how to see whether a step worked before you move on.
- Built from primary sources. Manufacturer service manuals and support pages (Dell, HP, Lenovo, ASUS, Acer, Apple), Microsoft Learn and Windows support documentation, component makers’ specifications, and well-established repair practice.
- No invented testing. We do not claim to have tested products we have not tested. Where we recommend a tool or part, we explain why it fits that step.
- Safety rules on every hands-on guide. Back up first, power off and unplug, disconnect the battery before touching the board, and stop if a battery is swollen, hot or smells. We never help bypass BIOS passwords, activation or school and work device locks.
- Kept current. Guides are updated when Windows, macOS or hardware changes, and the “Updated” date at the top shows when.
How the site earns money
ICT Service Center is free to read. It is supported by display advertising and by affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases, at no extra cost to you. Product picks are chosen because they fit the job in the guide, never because a brand paid us; we do not accept paid reviews.
Corrections and contact
If a step did not work for your model, or something is out of date, please tell us through the contact page. We read every message and correct guides when readers find a problem.
Repair guides are general information. If your computer is under warranty, check what opening it does to your cover, and use a qualified repair shop for anything you are not comfortable doing.
